Dutch Bike Rides
What is my favorite part of living in the Netherlands? Well, it has to be the bike rides. The photos in this blog all come from nearly two years of living in the Netherlands. Sometimes, I take pictures on my way back from work, while other times, I take a train ride to another province and rent a bike just to take photos. Regardless, I hope you enjoy the images from my bike rides in this wonderful country.
T'gooi
I live in a wonderful region. Though my apartment is in Hilversum, I bike daily to Laren, and in between lies beautiful nature reserves filled with incredible wildlife. Moreover, the towns around me offer more great sights packed with history and culture.
Noord-Holland
The provinces of Holland are famous for their cities, such as Haarlem, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam. However, I find the nature outside of these places the most joy in seeing. Going to these places is as easy as taking a train to the city center, renting a bike for 5 euros per day through NS, and then proceeding to bike 20-40 minutes into nature.
Other Provinces
Like taking a train to large cities and biking, the same can be said about remote regions. Even small train stations rent bikes for an affordable price through the NS Application. The photos below come from bike rides in the Provinces of Limburg, Flevoland, and Utrecht.
In closing, my blog is solely dedicated to bike rides in the Netherlands; I can say this with confidence. The stereotypes are true. Bikes are a huge part of life here and can take you across the country. The longer I live here, the more I see that bikes are and should be a key part of Dutch culture. So, when you visit, skip the car and take the bike. As always, explore respectfully and responsibly.
